tiny bits of the States

I have been living in a world of books, tests, assignments, homework and Library!
Library officially became my 2nd home and i actually liked that :)
I'm not a nerd! just that i like the cozy feeling of the library where you CAN...
1. borrow your textbooks for a period of 4 hours check-out per time, but not spending tons of money to buy it
2. just lie of the sofa and sleep like nobody's business
3. crash into one of the studyroom and do whatever you like in there with nobody watching you
4. use the computer for whatsoever reason (Without a sticky note of "only official work! no facebook!" )
5. choose to sit at the 'Poor Yoricks'-the snack&coffee corner and smell all kinds of yummy smell
6.explore the best-seller books corner and find out all kinds of famous and recommended books to read without buying them in MPH or kinokuniya
7. Bring your BAG in! but not leaving them outside of the library and holding a handful of books and stationery and sometimes even dropping them on your way in
8. EAT! wherever, whenever, whatever (you can just enjoy your meal while you're facebooking/reading a book/lying a sofa...)
9. walk into the University Writing Center (free service provided in the library) and get your grammar/sentence structure/citation styles corrected
10. print and scan your documents for FREE! (photocopy does need $)
tons of reasons why I should love the library! :D

hmm, why am i talking about the library anyway..o.o
alright, there are some interesting things i've found out about Americans which i think would be interesting to jot it down/share :)
of course, these might not be 100% true, just something which I've found out from my American friends but generally, it applies in most instances

1.Americans' first golden rule of thumb: Do unto others what you want others to do unto you.

2. 2nd golden rule: you can do anything with Gold $$$$

3.the American dream: every individual can succeed as long as you do what you're supposed to do, and be good in it. Wealth is not born with, it's made. own effort+hardworking-ness changes everything!

4. all Americans want to be a leader. nobody wants to be a follower. it's all about leading.

5. working life in America is hectic and no fun. you start driving to office at around 6am and get back at 6pm. the answer you'll always get when you ask them about their job would be "It's tough.", "tiring", "*sigh*","how i wish i can go back to study life"
and working is not fun time, it's WORK time.
like Donald trump, you don't get to the standard? "You're Fired!"

6. Ivy League is not so much of a superdream that everyone has here.
so what do they say about ivy league when they're asked? "well, not every program in ivy leagues are good. we (texas A&M) has very good engineering program, sciences, political science and a whole lot others too"
"and we have very good connections with the world out there, talking about CIA, pixar... we have connections! I tell you, Aggies get their connections all over the nation"
"but of course, being in ivy leagues, you will have different kinds of connections- with the elites"

7. most Americans like small government and more individual freedom.
you can hardly hear any praises about the government but  you'll hear "the government shouldn't..."

8. American little boys have STRONG DISLIKE towards PINK while American girls are CRAZILY IN LOVE with PINK (generalization but true)
when we're wrapping gifts for a little boy (operation christmas child boxes)...
"This box is for a boy, should we put the pink sharpener in?"
"I guess the lil boy in the other side of the world won't have such dislike towards pink as American boys do..."

9. Americans like it A LOT Sweeter and Saltier.
me:"is the cake very sweet?"
American:" No, it's just nice."
me "..." (doubting what it meant by 'just nice')
Chinese :"haha. yea, it's not too sweet.you can try it.the level of sweetness is just nice for Asians"
me "oh okay! :D " (took a large piece)

10. me "how do Americans define a very pretty girl?"
B"hmm, well, she'll have blonde long straight hair, very slim, tanned, weight of ... and height of ...
in simple terms, she will look like a Barbie Doll, just that a Barbie isn't tanned"
me "how about a very handsome guy?"
B"he'll have either blonde or brown hair, tanned, muscular and fit, weight of... and height of..."
me "can i say he'll look like Kent?"

*11. an extra point here from my homegroup leader, which is very comforting to me.
"Do ya'll know that Texas A&M is the university in the whole of America that sends out the most missionaries? Don't think of College Station as a small town which has nothing much, God is using us" :)
PTL!

well, just some random facts that i've found out.
can't wait till Thanksgiving!!! (Black Friday shopping!)
and I pray that money will be banked in soon! ><

  1. haha, ouhsum sister~ Library is great right? Well if it's not because I have access to a cozy room called EusoffWorks room and used-to-be Engineering Science room, I would have spent all my time in the Library too. But the grammer check service sounds like super awesome~!

Keep the information update coming~ I think once I start work I should start saving so that I can fly there and visit you soon! ^^
