Pride

It's so scary to know that it can creep in without you knowing.

Something that you've been fighting consciously.

It doesn't come informing you beforehand,

It doesn't even shows itself when you look into the mirror;

More often than not,

you realize its existence slower than the rest,

More often than not,

you realize its existence after you have fallen into it.

It is a constant struggle that requires consistent check in the spirit,

something that you hate to see it in other people,

without realizing that it first existed in you.

Even with a built-in reminder in your heart:

to never allow a space for it,

it finds its way steadily,

right into your life, your speech, your act.

Scarier still, it can be You.

Telling yourself not to be like 'those' people,

trusting that you have better judgment than most do,

more often than not,

you fail more miserably than you know.

No matter how hard, strong, persistent you are,

it still welcomes itself,

crawling right into its steady seat in your heart.

Is there a way to pull out the roots?

Is there a way to destroy its seat?

Is there a way to get rid of it?
